General Information on Zanzibar
Zanzibar is the number one beach location in East Africa. It is a wonderful Island, with classic tropical beaches, lush plantations, an incredible history and fascinating culture.
The majority of the people are Bantu in origin with many Arab strains found throughout the Island. The most common religion found is muslim where 95% of the population follows the laws of Islam, this dating back to the original Arab Settlers. 5% of the population consists of Christians and Hindus.
Swahili is the spoken language on the Island and it’s the official language. Total population is 800,000 and Stone Town is the Capital City.
The Currency used is Tanzanian Shillings. Climate is hot and humid where average temperature is 25 C.
